Farm in Maasin

This is one of the trees that grow in Maasin, probably a remnant of the old forest that used to be there. It must have been a very small tree when its older siblings were cut and carted away to become part of a Japanese home.

There are a few other trees growing in small pockets in a farm. Trees like this seldom grow so high, being a magnet for chain saws hungry for tree trunks. The tugas tree which grows so slowly is considered one of the hardest woods there are.

Fond Memories

These memories are less than nice. The present situation is less idyllic than the memories. I am being thwarted all around. Thinking that it was going to be easy was a big mistake and a rude awakeing lay in store for me. So, this is how the war is shaping? Well, I will have to adapt or die. If I am going to die then, there is really not much to do, is there? However, I know that I am in for more suffering so the notion of dying is a luxury i cannot afford to indulge in.

Cagayan de Oro Bands

The pages have photographs of bands from Cagayan de Oro City. Maybe I could hve their music here but for now let us be content with having just photographs. I was in Cagayan de Oro City a few months back and I got these photographs from Mike de la Cerna who is an excellent musician and a magician with the guitar. He has plans which I endorse whole heartedly if I only had the time to make it happen. I should be going back to Cagayan de Oro City soon and maybe plans which were never realized will become true.

There was a time when music flowed but those times are now being experienced by others and they are now on these pages. What am I saying? Am I being nostalgic? Cagayan de Oro City has memories and the urge to relive them is strong but this is not such a good idea. Living in the past does nothing for the dinosaurs and would also do nothing for me. Let me therefore live now in the present and present these bands who now make music. These bands come from Cagayan de Oro City but many of them now play in the cities of Asia.

Our favorites are: Ching's World, Green Tea, Dumaguete, Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City, Papoy, Moira Trinity Cagayan de Oro City, Dumaguete, Cebu are all in the Philippines in the world of Ching.

Cagayan de Oro Bands et. al

I had started posting photos of bands from Cagayan de Oro City and this was part of my effort to promote Ching's World which I had just done. Not really done, done but done as in finished as a sketch. The idea was to make a section in Ching's World where I feature bands from Cagayan de Oro City. This is easy to understand. I have contacts in Cagayan de Oro City like Mike de la Cerna who manages several bands. So I went to him and asked him for some photos of bands that he knew. While in Cagayan de Oro City we toyed with the idea of producing concerts but so far, there has not been any time for it.

I spent some time in Cebu City with Rene Mercado who produces concerts and events in several provinces. So, Ching's World was left to simmer for a while, not really moving at all, not getting hot but just simmering in the background. I should be going back to Cagayan de Oro City soon.
